@FutureThePoet: The Flint Poet In Motion

Future

. . .has the power to turn a few simple words into a life-defining statement. As an accomplished spoken word artist, he is most noted for his unparalleled depth, adeptness, and agility in imparting knowledge, commentary, and humor. He captures audiences with his unique delivery, vocal projection, and prolific writing skills while exhibiting social consciousness. Speaking with the conviction of a general, the intensity of a middle linebacker, and the wisdom of a sage, this Flint, Michigan native is amassing an impressive collection of accolades, awards, and championships all over our nation.

Born Edwin Wilson Jr., Future was an industrious student and gifted athlete, most notably in football, throughout his time at Flint Public Schools.  After graduating from Northern High School, Future attended the University of Michigan–Flint where he received his bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications Media Studies. Although he was always very creative with words, he never focused on those skills due to athletic aspirations.

Three years into college, Future finally picked up a pen and began his quest to what would soon become his new future. Two weeks after writing his first poem he entered his very first Slam competition. He placed second and missed a tie for first by a mere half point. The response and respect had an immediate effect on him, and a new home was discovered on the stage. It did not take long for him to put his NFL aspirations behind him and accept that writing is his calling.

The day after graduation, Future began his first tour with no plans of giving up. After only a few years of writing he became the champion of the Detroit Region Redemption Poetry Slam, a nationwide poetry slam contest sponsored by FX Movies. He has also been a showcased artist in the BET PanteneTotal You Tour” in Detroit and Washington D.C. He has shared the stage with the talents of poet Nikki Giovanni, hip-hop pioneer MC Lyte, BET anchor Jacque Reid, Grammy-winning gospel artist Yolanda Adams, Silk, Case, Chico DeBarge, Rome, Mighty Sparrow, Lady Calypso, Jenise “Ccep” Dew, Jessica Care Moore, Sonia Sanchez, Omar Tyree, and comedienne Myra J. Shortly after, he was opening for artists Common, Dwele, and Slum Village and recorded with Abiodune of the legendary Last Poets!

Today, after recording four albums and a live record, Future is laying his own path. He has moved on from Slam Competitions to travel all over the country to be featured at numerous venues. So, not only is Future artistically and aesthetically pushing the boundaries of his craft to continuously develop his art form, he is also pushing the boundaries of the our cities and states, becoming one of the most anticipated and well traveled artists in the country. With a fan outreach from one border to the other, Future is striving to remain active in his hometown. He devotes his time, energy, and talent as a member of Iota Phi Theta, Inc. and has also gone on to birth the largest showcase in the Midwest. Founded in 2006 and formerly known as “Flint Unplugged,” Future changed the name to “Future’s Lyricist Lounge” and hosts the showcase every two to three months.

Without doubt Future has become one of the most powerful forces in the Spoken Word movement. Soon, he plans to expand his career outlook by incorporating acting and modeling.

@LondonWilsonHQ Is Ready To Claim His Win at “Best Rapper In Texas” Before His Summer Release, Bad Habits 2

Back in April, London Wilson rocked the “Best Rapper In Texas” stage. His care free nature and awe-inspiring cohesiveness with Sky Lounge, the live band that played behind him, help lead London to the win that he had been anticipating.Thursday, May 19, 2011, London heads back to the home front, Midtown Lounge, hoping to achieve similar accolades with his second win.

Although just as prolific, Best Rapper In Texas is only the prelude to his summer release, BAD HABITS 2.BH2” highlights many of the same dilemmas of Bad Habits; describing the endeavors of an individual who seemingly wants to alleviate negative lifestyle habits, but continuously weighs the pros and cons of doing so. My bad habits may differ from the next man, but we each have that one habit that we really would love to get rid of; since the consequences have not been detrimental we chose to prolong them”, say’s London Wilson as he breaks down “BH2” concept to SpinDatMusic.com interviewer. Bad Habits 2 features his “Vibed” out single “Too Much” which has progressed through viral sites Virdiko.com, Clutch City Magazine, & Bigga Rankin’s new music release features.

As summer reaches its peak and the release of Bad Habits 2 nears, make sure to follow @LondonWilsonHQ on twitter for his #BadHabits2uesdays that will feature songs that may appear on “BH2”. For more information about London Wilson log onto his label website www.RapStarENT.com , view past performances and his the dates to his upcoming shows.

About London Wilson

Houston residential, DFW native, London Wilson realized his talent for music his senior year in high school, but if it had not been for his friend/brother, his talent would have gone unnoticed to the world. Majoring in Entertainment & Recording Industry at Texas Southern University London received his first taste at developing music with the proper industry equipment. After bringing some of his material back to Fort Worth, London’s cousin introduced him to Greg Street and they recorded “Greg Street Presents ‘London Wilson I’m From Texas’”.With that experience under his belt London went on to work on “Bad Habits” which featured his single Too Much and leading track Metroplex Music. Now that Too Much is circulation with force through Dallas/Fort Worth & Houston London Wilson is ready to expose hie true lyrical ability with Bad Habits 2.

Cali Swag District Rapper M-Bone Killed In Drive-By Shooting

Bone, 22, died of two gunshot wounds to the head in his hometown of Inglewood, California.

Early Monday (May 16) morning hip-hop fans were stunned by the news that Cali Swag District member M-Bone died Sunday night, the victim of a drive-by shooting.
Bone, born Mante Talbert, was one-fourth of the group that rose to fame with their 2010 single "Teach Me How to Dougie." Cali Swag frontman C-Smoove tweeted, "Ma life changed drastically in the blink of an eye. rip mbone," early Monday morning.
Inglewood Police Department Homicide Sgt. Brian Spencer confirmed to MTV News that the 22-year-old Bone died of two gunshot wounds to the head in his hometown of Inglewood, California.
At about 10:30 p.m. PT Sunday night, police were called to the 400 block of North La Brea in Inglewood. When police arrived on the scene, they found Talbert seated in the driver's seat of a black unspecified vehicle with at least two gunshot wounds to the head. Paramedics then took him to a local hospital where Talbert eventually succumbed to his injuries.
Witness accounts confirm that the rapper was seated in his car when the gunmen pulled alongside him in a separate vehicle and let off at least two rounds. The suspects fled northbound on La Brea.
Signed to Capitol Records, Cali Swag District made their name with the platinum dance hit "Teach Me How to Dougie," an ode to the dance popularized by hip-hop legend Doug E. Fresh. The record's remix featured Jermaine Dupri, B.o.B, Bow Wow and Red Cafe, and their debut album, The Kickback, is slated for a 2011 release.
The Inglewood Police Department is asking anyone with information to come forward and call its homicide division at (310) 412-5246 or its 24-hour anonymous hotline number, (888) 41 CRIME, or (888) 412-7463.

NATE DOGG WAS WORKING ON GOSPEL ALBUM BEFORE HE DIED

Four time Grammy Award nominee Nathaniel Dwayne Hale aka Nate Dogg was in the lab working on a gospel album before he passed away March 15, 2011 from complications from a series of stroke he had in previous years. Nate Dogg has worked with a lot of big names in the industry during his career, but decided to work with the Greatest Producer of All Time...God! Warren G had this to say in a recent interview: “He was a child of God and he was raised in the church. He had just started work with Gospel groups,” “He was getting into Gospel music and there wasn’t going to be no more ‘I got hoes…’ [Nate Dogg's chorus on Ludacris's 'Area Codes'] He was going to the church side of music. He brought people from the church to my studio and had them singing on one of my tracks. We didn’t finish it.”
